Adams is a university trained, Board Certified Orthodontist who, for 35 years specialized in treating children and adults. He received his DDS degree, Summa Cum Laude, from Baylor University, graduating number one in his class and earning the Alpha Omega Scholastic Award as Valedictorian. He was elected to the "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities" and to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Scholastic Honor Society, the Phi Beta Kappa of Dentistry. He received the Certificate of Honor from Baylor College of Dentistry when he earned the top academic average of the class and also received the Southwest Academy of Restorative Dentistry Award, which is given to the graduating senior dental student with the highest clinical grades for actual treatment done on patients. He received the C.T. Rowland Award from the Texas Tweed Society of Orthodontists (a juried competition with other orthodontists) based on the difficulty of the cases and the finished results. The judging is based on before and after photos, x-rays and exact plaster duplicates of the patient’s teeth. The winner of the competition has his/her name inscribed on the trophy and gets to keep the trophy in his/her office for that year. Dr. Adams considers it one of his premier achievements. The phrase that’s most common in the hallway outside of the judging room is “put your before & after dental casts and photos on the table and excuse yourself from the room. We will call you back in after the judging.”
When he graduated from Dental School, Dr. Adams was accepted for orthodontic training at Harvard University in Boston, and at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas. He declined Harvard and chose to attend Baylor in order to study with world-renowned clinical professor, Dr. Robert E. Gaylord, the founder of the Baylor Orthodontic Department, and a term as President of the American Association of Orthodontists (8,000 members).
Dr. Adams has been voted as one of "Dallas' Best Orthodontists" ("D" magazine poll of Dallas area dentists), one of Texas' Best Orthodontists (Texas Monthly Magazine poll statewide) and one of America's Best Orthodontists (Consumers Research Council of America).
After receiving his Master's degree in Dental Science (MSD) and his Clinical Certificate in Orthodontics from Baylor University, Dr. Adams became interested in facial proportion, balance and symmetry, particularly in reference to the width of the smile and elimination of the "dark corners" of the smile caused by narrow dental arches which is usually caused by partial airway obstruction during their growth years (tonsils, adenoids and/or allergies). He pioneered, in the Plano area, the use of orthopedic expansion of both jaws to achieve beautiful, functional smiles, and to avoid the extraction of permanent teeth in most cases (with the exception of wisdom teeth). In addition, he became very interested in coordinated dental function and jaw joint function (TMJ), graduating from the Roth-Williams institute for Advanced Occlusal Study. Dr. Adams constantly attended continuing education, as a student and as a teacher. He has lectured extensively in the United States on advanced state of the art techniques in orthodontics. To date he has given over 30 seminars in 18 different states from Massachusetts to California. Dr. Adams is a member of a very prestigious 70 year old Study Group, the name of which cannot be used by anyone but the members; membership in this group is based on invitation only, review and approval of the candidate by 100% of the membership (patterned somewhat after the membership process of a certain golf club in eastern Georgia). Dr. Adams is fortunate enough to have been mentored by Dr. Tom Pitts of Reno, Nevada. Tom is one of the true geniuses of the Orthodontic profession, along with Bob Gaylord, Robert Rickets and Ronald Roth.
He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists and is Board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Adams has a commitment to the finest personalized orthodontic care that is possible for patients in a comfortable and caring environment. He utilizes state of the art technology in diagnosing and treating patients and he emphasizes a team approach between doctor, family Dentist, staff, and patients. His practice has been highly successful from referrals from satisfied patients, families, friends, and general dentists.
Dr. Adams and his wife Debbie love spending time with their daughters, sons in law, and grandchildren. There are many grand-dogs and grand-cats running around and life is very good! Family, faith, friends, our incredible staff and our wonderful patients are the most important things in life to Debbie and George. Our immediate family are all members at Watermark Church in Dallas. They love to ski, backpack and fly fish in the Rocky Mountains.
Our legacy for the future is that our practice will be based on Golden Rule Orthodontics: “do unto others as you would want done for you and your family”.
On an ongoing basis our doctor’s motivating goals will be based on providing health, beauty, self- esteem and happiness for our patients and their families. We will conduct ourselves professionally, personally and ethically such that our patients, their parents and dentists will respect our ethics and appreciate our skills. I sit up a little straighter in my chair when a kid says, “Doctor, I want to be just like you."
Remember, there are people in those braces: they want and deserve the best. They want to be treated with skill, care, judgement, respect and kindness. My dream is that someday when I close my eyes for the last time, God will say, “well done, my good and faithful servant."
